Sibanye Society Housing Development Trust (SSHDT) was founded in 2008 by Durban Members who were struggling to find suitable and affordable low cost accommodation within the Durban City and surroundings.

The aim of the project is to afford the society an opportunity to be house owners ? or rather home owners to establish society own funded housing club. Recognizing an opportunity, they took it upon themselves to start Sibanye Society Housing Trust and make contributions towards the building of these houses as the club or trust.

We build houses for people who can not access building loans from the banks, people who are blacklisted, self employed, even pensioners. But in other for us to build you a house you must become our member by joining our trust.
We offer our services to people who are:
> Not able to get a house loan
> Pensioners
> Self employed
> To people on ITC (blacklisted)
> And to every working class

Become A Member

You must complete an application with all your supporting documents and make a deposit of a NON REFUNDABLE fee of R2250.00 for registration.


Submit your application form by scanning it and send via email, fax or you can also hand them over to your nearest satellite office or the area manager/fieldworker that has recruited you.


We check all the relevant documentation that have been submitted by the applicant. Then we send our team of inspectors / engineers to go and inspect the site.


We await the report from our team of inspectors / engineers. Once we get site report from our team then we contact you and give you the feedback.


If the application is successful the client will come in to sign an agreement contract with Sibanye.


Once the site has been handed over to the construction company then the member has to start his/her first monthly installment that could happened between two to three months after a member has fully paid his/her administration fee, unless there are some challenges on the side of the applicant then the status core of 6 months waiting period will remain.
